Post Modernism and globalisation stretches even more than just a couple of pieces of art. The Spanish
surrealist painter, Salvador Dali, has been referenced many times in popular culture but it is this piece that is probably most famous. People around the world will be aware of "the persistence of memory" from one of it's various international parodies/homages/tributes.
Nothing is safe from parody. I can't imagine anyone not being aware of Dali's original painting and being more familiar with, for example, the simpsons version. Did you know about these parodies before researching for the blog?
ReplyDeleteI don't follow much surrealist art but i have seen the original however some people may have never seen it but because of these parodies they know its origin and it broadens peoples knowledge on things in which they never thought of being interesting.
