Tayto Crisps

The charm of Tayto crisps used to be that they were never sold outside of Northern Ireland and the Republic. They were a tourist attraction with the Tayto castle in Armagh, which is open to the general public. I was surprised to see that in B&M bargains, they now sell tayto crisps and you can purchase them on amazon. Very little has been written about the exclusivity of Tayto crisps and I could only find an article about Eva Longoria praising the crisps. Is anyone else aware of these crisps and their popularity or has it all been kept a secret so to speak?

  1. I have never heard of them but I do suppose that nothing is kept within its original country because of the amount in which is traded over seas, how you found anything on how far they have traveled?, like your comment on Eva mentioning them, does that mean they are sold in America?. I know England has its counties and it is easier for ones counties gain to expand its horizon throughout England and even further, for example, my home county Yorkshire, where the Yorkshire pudding comes from is now something which everyone makes with their Sunday dinner, this is very interesting, does anybody else have something which was native to your county but is now about England?

  2. I don't think they are sold in America apart from via amazon, just that when Eva Longoria visited Ireland , she went back to America singing the praises for these crisps. Like how black pudding, being a scottish delicacy, is now served with full english breakfast.
