Foreign art on British design

Globalisation is a construct that has effected the way that design has worked. Many designers used images from various different places as source material for their designs both here and in America. This is not just in a way to get the feel of a foreign country but for general composition. Below are some examples that I can think of, it is now your guys chance to add to this list of mainly record sleeves.

Usage of images from other cultures would never of happened without globalisation due to the fact no one from england would of seen these images as they would not of been exported. But the use of art books and/or tourism has made art readily available to all.

  2. I'm not sure how to attach images in comments, but the use of Pieter Bruegel's painting Netherlandish proverbs for Fleet Foxes' self titled album is another example of this.

  3. I think that designers gathering inspiration from people all around the world is how design has progressed to what it is today. I think that without it, design wouldn't be as interesting and new styles wouldn't come about as easily. I think that it's definitely been a positive thing in terms of peoples artwork! We wouldn't have got a lot of the great designs we have today if it wasn't for them seeing work from other cultures.
