This is a comical view on globalisation and even though there is not any speech and primarily focuses on one company, it did make me think on the connections which countries have, also where as some of these are not based on facts its not the most reliable video for information on globalisation however it is a light hearted video on one cause of gloablisation. What are all your thought?

  1. I really quite enjoyed this video. Like you said, it is a very light hearted approach to explaining globalisation and in particular global branding. I think things like this have to be done in order to make something as serious as globalisation appear that little bit more interesting. I like the way the illustrator has demonstrated the growth of a business via a small toy car (which I do associate that particular brand with a toy), to a child, to a group of children and then to a bigger network of people. The idea that growth happens that way, a company approaches a strange country and takes over and then the smaller country objects with all its might to stop the ‘americanisation’ that is occurring is interesting as I find that really relates to the story behind the Disney growth when they planted a park in France, Japan and China and were met with nothing but rage, disappointment and upset until finally they were won over.
It may not be the most reliable of sources, but it is a pleasant and interesting one to watch.

  2. I enjoyed watching this video! I think it's a great way of showing people an example of globalisation in a fun and interesting way. The company used is definitely one most people can relate to which makes it that much more interesting and also gets people thinking! I had never even thought about all of the connections that company has and the video, although it may not be totally reliable, has definitely got me thinking about how it's not all positive and there are lots of consequences for one companies huge success.
